Pan Pacific Hotel Lobby Bar
Location: South Lake Union, Seattle, WA
Atmosphere: Sophisticated, wood-accented space
Food: PNW cuisine
Two words: CARDAMOM PANCAKES.
I don’t have pancakes often. As much as I love them as comfort food, they do not always comfort my stomach. And believe me, some of the pancakes I’ve had since starting PAFP have been ridiculous; pineapple upside down, Elvis-style (minus the peanut butter), the classic chocolate chip with extra chips… they have been wild.
But enter something so simple, -so delicious-, that I can’t believe it hasn’t been on my plate prior: Cardamom Pancakes. The chef combined the Indian spice, a part of the ginger family, with cinnamon and clove, made a well-portioned stack of the cakes and sent it on the way with warm syrup. In the cool wet Seattle winter, the warmth of the spices brought out a feeling of true comfort that I feel brunch is meant to provide.
