When in Vienna, Austria, one must try the traditional food without exception. After imagining what wienerschnitzel would taste like for weeks leading up to the trip, we finally found a semi-traditional Bier Garten to try it.
After adventuring through the Schonbrunner Sclosspark, we stopped at the Brandauers Schlossbräu for a few beers, and to cool down in the late spring heat. After tasting the American version of a zwickle, I was curious to see if it was much different fresh from the European taps. It did have a cleaner finish, but kept the slight citrus taste.
My wienerscnitzel came out steaming hot, with a side of vinegar soaked cucumbers and tomato, a lemon to drizzle and a side of house-made potato salad. I had no idea what to expect as far as the taste, but the meat was slightly salty and had a good citrus kick from the lemon drizzle.
